A new permanent game mode has been added alongside the new version update to Zenless Zone Zero. Version 1.3 gives players the chance to challenge the Endless Tower in ZZZ, offering them a whole new set of challenges to overcome to get their hands on some nice rewards. But let’s not kid ourselves. The most important part of this mode is getting as high up as you can to get a cool new badge and show off to others. Although showing off and getting some nice rewards sounds cool and all, you must first clear the tower’s floors, and to do that you’ll need as much help as you can get, because believe us, they’re no joke.

Is the Endless Tower Hard?
The Endless Tower is a nightmare to get through in the later stages. At first, you’ll be breezing through the first few floors, thinking this is all sunshine and rainbows, but hell begins to unfold the higher up you get. For starters, you’ll be facing a ton of bosses requiring you to use different elemental weaknesses to beat them. Couple that with the fact that you can get two-shotted, don’t recover HP between stages, and have a time limit for beating the floor, and you have yourself one hell of a challenge. That being said, there are some agents that you can use to make that climb a bit easier on your fingers.

Best Character to Use
The best character to use in this new mode is without a doubt, Caesar.
Caesar excels in this mode thanks to her ridiculous buffing ability, which boosts the on-field character’s ATK by up to 1,000. However, what makes her indispensable in this mode is the powerful shield that she gives. Caesar’s shield is so useful that it singlehandedly boosts her as the most usable character in the Endless Tower. It can save you a ton of trouble in the upper stage, giving you more room for error as you do not have to worry about being one or two-shotted by any attack. Having her on your team will certainly make the climbing more bearable and won’t have you pulling out your hair on every single floor.

No Caesar?
That being said, what do you do if you do not have Caesar? Well, unfortunately, there is not a good alternative that you can use in place of Caesar. An argument can be made that Jane Doe teams featuring Seth, and his shield can somewhat take her place, but the shield offered by Seth is nowhere as powerful as Caesar’s shield. Can it absorb damage and prevent you from being one-shot? Probably. But there is not a single character that can replace Caesar’s utility as of version 1.3. Does this mean that you should give up? Well, no.
You can still clear the tower even without Caesar. Will you struggle? Probably. Will it be harder? Definitely. But if you manage to get a hand of your dodges and have a decently built team or two, you can still get up to stage 25 to get all the rewards.
For free-to-play players who haven’t pulled on any banner or only have a limited selection of characters, some of the characters that you can use to make that climb easier will definitely be Billy and Anby. Although Billy takes some time to master, he is great when it comes to dealing damage, and his ability to attack from a distance gives you more time to focus on dodging and evading enemy attacks. Anby, on the other hand, is an amazing F2P stunner that can help you open up damaged windows for Billy. Another character that you may want to look at is Ben. Although he’s been mostly forgotten, Ben can provide a decent chunk of shields to help you from being one-shotted, while also having decent damage and good daze.
The Endless Tower is without a doubt a tough mode to tackle and might take some time before you’re able to fully clear it. Luckily, the mode is here to stay, so you do not need to worry about rushing and clearing it on day one. Take your time, build up your characters, and challenge it slowly until you’re able to reach the end!
