One of the best additions in Diablo 4 Season 4 has been the Tempering crafting system, which allows players to add some new and powerful affixes to their items, making the endgame grind much more interactive. Being able to grind through the new Tormented Bosses or the Pit of the Artificer dungeon, having an item with the proper affixes drop, and being able to further enhance it through Enchanting, Tempering, and Masterworking has made gearing up your characters a lot more engaging. Blizzard has added a couple of different Temper Manuals for each of the classes, which you can learn and then use at the Blacksmith to add new affixes to your items.

The Barbarian is the class that benefits the most from the new Tempering system, as it has 4 weapon slots, allowing you to add a grand total of 10 different affixes. What Are Temper Manuals in Diablo 4 Season 4?

Temper Manuals are items that can drop from any type of content in Diablo 4 and can be used to unlock recipes for adding new affixes to your items. Each Temper Manual unlocks certain affixes, and once you use it, you will be able to apply those affixes to your items at the Blacksmith. There are six types of Temper Manuals for each class, including Offensive, Defensive, Utility, Mobility, Weapons, and Resource, and each of these categories’ affixes can only be applied to certain types of items.

As an example, if you are playing a Barbarian, you might come across the Demolition Finesse Temper Manual. Once you learn this Manual, you will have permanent access to the following Tempering affixes at the Blacksmith:

As this is an Offensive Temper Manual, you will only be able to apply these affixes to your Weapons, Gloves, Rings, and Amulets. Each Temper Manual has a rarity based on the World Tier it dropped in, with the final Legendary versions dropping in World Tier 4.
