Diablo 4 Season 4 is finally here and it brings some of the biggest changes since the release of the game back in 2024. Season 4 is called 'Loot Reborn,' and it's one of the most significant updates to the game, with the itemization rework, the Pit of Artificers endgame dungeon, and many changes to Helltides and other mechanics all coming at the same time. The endgame boss ladder has also been updated, with a new Uber Andariel boss fight being added, as well as level 200 tormented versions of each and every pinnacle encounter in the game, making them much harder but also very rewarding.

The Beast in the Ice is one of these bosses and not only can he drop some of the strongest Unique items in the game, but now he also has an extra purpose as he drops one of the materials needed to summon the Uber Andariel boss fight. Here is a guide on how you can summon the regular and the tormented versions of the Beast in the Ice, with a full list of his item drops also provided.

The Beast in the Ice Location & Summon Requirements

In order to fight 'The Beast in the Ice', you are going to need to craft a Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil. This is a Tier 31 Nightmare Dungeon that takes place in the Glacial Fissure zone in the game. In order to craft this Sigil, you are going to need the following resources:

Sigil Powder is relatively easy to come by; you can get it as a random drop from any Nightmare Dungeon or by salvaging your Sigils at the Occultist.

Distilled Fear can be found by completing Nightmare Dungeons above Tier 30. Higher tiers of dungeons are going to provide you with more instances of Distilled Fear.

Since the release of Season 4, Distilled Fear can now drop from other sources, such as Elites, Local Events, Whisper Caches, Treasure Goblins, and the new Hellborne enemies from Helltides. This will make it much easier to farm the materials needed to summon the Beast in the Ice, but due to these drops being random, the best way to focus farm Distilled Fear is still through Nightmare Dungeons.

Upon crafting the Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil, you will be able to use it like any other regular Sigil. Just right-click it and open up your map. The dungeon will be centered, and you will be able to teleport there. At the end of the dungeon, you will encounter 'The Beast in the Ice' boss fight.

How to Summon the Tormented (Uber) Beast in the Ice

The Tormented Beast in the Ice is a level 200 version of the original boss fight, making him much more difficult to defeat but also much more rewarding. You can summon the tormented version of the Beast in the Ice by crafting the Tier 96 Glacial Fissure Nightmare Sigil which can be found in the same section of the Occultist. This Sigil costs three times as many materials as the original one as well as 2 Stygian Stones. Stygian Stones can be found by completing the new Pit of Artificers endgame dungeon at higher levels. Here are the materials needed in order to summon the Tormented Beast in the Ice:

Each time you defeat the Tormented Beast in the Ice you are going to receive 5 times the amount of loot, and for your first victory over him you are also going to be rewarded with a Resplendent Spark, which can be used to craft Uber Unique items, such as the Harlequin Crest.
