The Phantom Oxcart is an unusual quest in Dragon's Dogma 2. Sometimes killing monsters isn't the only way to complete missions. You will be killing things but it's not that simple this time. You will have to dive into the slave trade and pretend to be a Pawn to figure out what is going on. You will have no prompts to show you how to do this but that is what we are here for.
Make sure you do not attempt to complete this quest as a Trickster. While the Trickster vocation excels in certain circumstances, this is not one of them. You will need to defend yourself without the aid of your Pawns and with no weaponry. The Trickster is not suited for this kind of engagement. It is possible but will take you ten times longer versus other classes.

Where to Start the Phantom Oxcart Quest in Dragon's Dogma 2
Before you can begin the Phantom Oxcart quest in Dragon's Dogma 2, you will have to progress along the main story until you have traveled to Bakbattahl. Once you have done that, you should return to Vernworth. You can use oxcarts to fast travel if you wish or you can use a Portcrystal.
When you arrive in Vernworth, head to the Western Oxcart Station. You will overhear the locals talking about a strange oxcart that only appears after sundown and this will trigger the side quest. Wait until nightfall by resting at a nearby campfire, the inn, or in your own house if you have made the purchase.

The Phantom Oxcart Location in Dragon's Dogma 2
Take the eastern gate out of Vernworth and continue along the main road until you reach the marked area. You will be able to see the blue glow of the oxcart. Listen in on the conversation between a soldier and the driver, explaining that the oxcart is transporting Pawn slaves.
As soon as you get too close, the soldier will run away. Don't let him get away and tackle him to the ground. The soldier will give you a document and ask you to let him go. He will even offer some gold if you do.
The choice is yours. You can take him to prison if you want but 5000 gold is nothing to be sniffed at. Dragon's Dogma 2 doesn't have any kind of morality system so there is no downside.

After dealing with the soldier, return to Vernworth. Take the document to either Captain Brant or Sven. Considering Brant is always at the Stardrop Inn during the night in Dragon's Dogma 2, it is easier to head there.
Hand over the document and Brant will suggest you follow the oxcart to see where it goes. You have two ways to do this in Dragon's Dogma 2. You can disguise yourself as a Pawn or by following at a distance. Many players have reported bugs when trying the second option so we recommend pretending to be a Pawn.
Head back to the Phantom Oxcart and unequip all your weapons and armor. When you are in your underwear, you will be able to talk to the driver and he will allow you to join the other Pawns. This will award you the "Are We There Yet" achievement for Dragon's Dogma 2.

The driver will spend the journey verbally abusing everyone on board. After a while, goblins will attack the oxcart. Do not equip any weapons or armor as this will blow your cover. The monsters are weak so deal with them with your fists.
Head back to the oxcart and carry on your journey. You will stop one more time when you reach Checkpoint Rest Town. After you disembark so the guards can inspect the cargo, they will begin to punch you and the other Pawns to see if anyone will disobey. Do not react in any way. Just take the beating and don't blow your cover.

A few other guards will stop the abuse eventually. Get back on the oxcart and travel to Bakbattahl. Another set of guards will want to inspect the slaves and they will realize who you are. Nothing you can do will stop this. All guards will turn hostile.
You can now equip your weapons and armor. The Pawns will help but some players report a glitch causing your helpers to stand idle during the fight. This is a challenging battle due to the number of guards but if you survive you will get the Labor Requisition Orders.
Take the document to Brant back in Vernworth, ending the side quest. You will receive 4000 XP, 14,500 gold, and the Ring of Momentum. Celebrate your success and the freedom of some slaves. Who knows if your actions will stop the slave trade in Pawns but anything is better than nothing. I hope this guide helps.
