While Hades 2 has a lot of similarities to the original game, when you combine all of the new weapons, boons, and gameplay mechanics, such as Omega moves, Magick, and sprinting, it starts to branch out and feel like its own unique experience. There are so many new builds available, and they can become even more in-depth once you start playing around with the Arcana Cards, Grasp of the Arcane, and the different weapon aspects. With each weapon having its own unique moveset and Daedalus boons attached to it, you will be able to find hundreds of hours of replayable content.
The Moonstone Axe has quickly become a fan-favorite among all of the new weapon choices due to its high damage and weighty animations. In this article, we are going to show you the best Moonstone Axe build in Hades 2, so you can easily defeat Chronos and progress through the story.
Hades 2: Best Moonstone Axe Build
Mandatory Boons
The focus of this build is centered around using the Moonstone Axe's Omega Attack as much as possible, which means we want to focus on increasing the damage and finding a way to regenerate our Magick. In terms of damage for melee weapons, there is nothing better than going for the Aphrodite buff as it gives the highest percentage possible. It is limited to 'close' enemies, but with this build we are going to be right on top of our foes.
Omega Attacks cost quite a bit of Magick, so we are going to need to find a way to sustain it. Luckily, Aphrodite comes in clutch again with her Glamour Gain boon, which allows you to restore your Magick while you are near foes that are affected by the Weak debuff. The boon itself also makes one enemy always under this condition, which means that if you are fighting a boss you are always going to regen your Magick when you stand next to him. These 2 boons alongside some Health and Magick upgrades along the way are going to be more than enough to clear all 4 floors in Hades 2. Here are the mandatory boons for this build:
- Flutter Strike (Aphrodite): Your Attacks deal more damage to nearby foes.
- Glamour Gain (Aphrodite): In each Encounter, 1 foe is always Weak. You gradually restore Magick near Weak foes.
Since both of these boons are from Aphrodite, we suggest using her Keepsake so you can ensure her spawning as soon as possible, while also giving you the chance to Rarify one of them once you find it.

Optional Boons
In terms of optional boons, we suggest that you look for any Daedalus hammer upgrade you can find, as there are 3 different boons that affect your Omega Attack. While these are not needed in order to complete a run, they are going to make the build a lot stronger, so make sure to keep them in mind. Aside from these suggestions, you can always go for some extra boons to your special, sprint, and cast, but for the most part, we suggest focusing on getting Health and Magick, as you don't really need any more damage or utility. Here are some optional boons we suggest for this build:
- Psychic Whirlwind (Daedalus): During your Omega Attack, you are free to use your Attacks and Specials.
- Furious Whirlwind (Daedalus): You Channel your Omega Attack faster, and move 60% faster while it is active.
- Concentrated Whirlwind (Daedalus): Your Omega Attack gains +2 Power each time it keeps hitting the same foe.
And that is our recommended Moonstone Axe build. This build can easily clear all of the content in Hades 2, especially in the earlier stages of your progression. Make sure to take Aphrodite's Keepsake with you so you can have a much higher chance of getting the boons that you are looking for.
