One of the main reasons to play the Hades games is for the amazing writing, voice acting, and the story, and the sequel manages to bring everything we loved from the original while also adding a ton of new content on top of it. You have a lot of returning characters from the original game, such as Charon, Hades, and Cerberus, as well as most of the gods we met in our journey with Zagreus. It's very interesting to see all of the different interactions these characters have with our new protagonist Melinoe, especially after the events that take place before the start of the game. One of these recurring characters and the first one that you will meet is Hypnos, and true to his nature, he is in deep slumber.
Since the Hades games are all based around completing your runs and finding new dialogue or things to interact with back at the main hub, some players might be wondering if there is a way to wake Hypnos from his slumber in Hades 2. Here is everything you need to know!

Hades 2: Who is Hypnos?
Hypnos is a character from the original Hades game, and he is back in the sequel. His title in the House of Hades was Sleep Incarnate, and while he was in charge of processing all of the new shades that arrived at the house, he was mostly sleeping on the job. He is a son of Nyx and has many siblings, including Charon, Nemesis, Eris, and Moros, who are a big part of the supporting cast in the sequel. You can find Hypnos sleeping in the northeast side of the Crossroads, and by speaking to Hecate, she will tell you that she found Hypnos sleeping during Chronos' invasion and she managed to take him and Melinoe and flee. Here is a list of Hypnos' family relations to other characters in Hades:
- Nyx (Mother)
- Chaos (Grandparent)
- Charon (Older Brother)
- Moros (Brother)
- The Fates (Sisters)
- Nemesis (Sister)
- Thanatos (Older Twin Brother)
- Eris (Younger Sister)

Hades 2: Can You Wake Up Hypnos?
There is no way to wake Hypnos from his sleep in the current early access build of the game. We expect this to change in a later patch or with the full release of the game, as he was in the House of Hades when Chronos' invasion was taking place, and finding a way to wake him up is the perfect way to reveal more story or have a big twist in the later stages of the game. It's possible that he will once again be an inconsequential character in the grand scheme of things, but since the story of the sequel is a lot more serious and intense, we expect him to play a big role in the war against Chronos.
What kind of information he has and how he will influence the story remains to be seen, but once his full storyline is added to the game, we will make sure to update this article. Hypnos was one of the fan-favorite characters from the original game, and we are excited to see what Supergiant has in store for him.
