League of Legends Season 14 has started and with many players experimenting with the new map terrain changes, new and revamped items, and the changes to the neutral objectives, the entire meta is starting to adapt to these updates to LoL.

With that being said, Rioters were quick to respond to power creeps and address imbalances as they will be looking to tweak a lot of the overpowered and underpowered aspects of League of Legends

Once Patch 14.1 was officially launched, marking the start of Season 2024, a lot of players were quick to identify that the meta was starting to revolve around early-to-mid-game burst builds.

We will be taking a look at all of the upcoming changes that will be introduced once Patch 14.2 hits live servers. The article will be updated accordingly once more information has been shared by Rioters.

As per the recent tweet by @RiotPhroxzon:

Almost all of the champions in the list had a core item that they had a great synergy with either removed or reworked (or in Gwen's case, overnerfed) - Everfrost, Sunderer, Tri Force, AH for Hwei, Karthus Liandrys, etc.

LoL 14.2 Patch Preview Item Nerfs

Riot Phroxzon additionally added: 

Double support item (and quadra support item) are being nerfed. We're being pretty heavy handed here. Stormsurge is receiving a substantial nerf and we think it's the root cause of a lot of the increased burst.

Bloodsong also appears to be the best of the support items. Finally, Frozen Heart and Riftmaker are a bit too efficient

LoL 14.2 Patch Preview System Adjustments

A lot of important changes to Season 14 as we will be getting new Rune Stat Shards that will either provide additional movement speed or additional tenacity and slow resistance.

The main goal of this change is to make choices more satisfying and intuitive. While we're losing some interest in choosing armor/MR against opponents, we hope to gain more intuitive choices like early vs scaling or movespeed/tenacity vs durability.

These changes are also intended to combat some of the increased burst in the game. They were intended to go out in 14.1 to counteract some of the burst increases, but had a small delay and were desynced a patch as a result.

It seems that Riot will also look at changing up the support item stacking system as Supports are having the time of their lives with these new items.

LoL 14.2 Patch Preview Ranked Changes

Another crucial aspect will be adjusted as Riot Phroxzon mentioned:

We're making some changes to reduce how lenient tier boundary demotions are. While we think making a tier boundary is a big milestone, we also need to be demoting people more honestly to ensure the ranked system functions properly. 

We're also continuing to investigate some players with negative LP gains. The vast majority of these are coming from the above, where people are not being demoted properly, so their visible rank is higher than their current level of play. 

We're also chasing down a few cases of some Diamond1/Masters players having some negative LP gains for a short amount of time, but these only seem to be affecting a small number of accounts in large regions. 

And that wraps it up in terms of upcoming changes. All of this is subject to change as Riot Games further looks into the stats they have and adjusts the changes accordingly to fit a more balanced game.
