Pokemon GO: Raid and Gym Battle Updates & Compensation (October 2024)

Pokemon GO has announced that they will be making changes to the Raid and Gym Battle Systems and have implemented a way to compensate players who experienced a particular bug earlier this month. Read on to learn about Pokemon GO's statement and compensation.

Pokemon GO: Raid & Gym Battle System Updates

On October 10, 2024, the Pokemon GO team posted that they're improving the raid and gym battle systems globally. Niantic didn't specify a planned date of release for this update, but we got a few words on what it will focus on fixing.

These updates are intended to improve stability, reduce latency, and make it easier to add new features in the future. Updates include changes to the damage outputs, energy generation, and durations of certain Pokemon attacks for raids and Gym battles only.

It's exciting to know that we'll be getting a Raid and Gym Battle overhaul shortly! Though we don't have any more details confirmed about this update, we can only hope that Niantic delivers it sooner rather than later. Players have been experiencing some bugs and errors with these exact aspects of Pokemon GO, so it's reassuring that Niantic is doing something about it.

Pokemon GO: Compensation for Difficulty Bug

Niantic is compensating players who encountered a particular bug that occurred on October 3, 2024, that caused both Raid Battles and Max Battles to be much more difficult than intended. In many cases, trainers all over the world couldn't complete Raids and Max Battles on that day because of this error.

Now, Pokemon GO will offer special timed research to affected trainers to make up for this mistake. Trainers will need to claim this timed research until April 9th, 2025, at 11:59 local time to receive their compensation before it expires.

Trainers who lost a Max Battle during the affected period will receive:

• 400 Max Particles
• 10x Revives
• 10x Hyper Potions

Trainers who lost a Raid Battle during the affected period will receive:

• 10x Revives
• 10x Hyper Potions
• 1x Premium Battle Pass
