Dragon's Dogma 2 is not the best at explaining exactly what is expected of you in a lot of quests. That is the charm of the action RPG. The game doesn't lead you by the hand to each discovery and can be really satisfying when you do achieve victory. If you are struggling with how to figure out what to do in A Trial of Archery, that is what we are here for.

To start A Trial of Archery in Dragon's Dogma 2, you will need to complete the Gift of the Bow mission. You will be visiting the home of the elves and helping Glyndwr save his sister from an ogre. The good news is that this quest will reward you with Maister's Teachings for the archer vocation. It is definitely worthwhile helping your elven friend in Vernworth.

This quest is time-sensitive so when you start, you will want to hurry because if you delay too long serious repercussions can occur. You will have time to rest for one night at the inn should you need to recover and maybe buy some supplies when you make it to the Sacred Arbor but not much more than that.

How to Start A Trial of Archery in Dragon's Dogma 2

To get started with A Trial Of Archery, you will need to start much like you did in the previous quest in the storyline. Head to Vernworth and look for Glyndwr in the marketplace. He will explain that he has been practicing with the bow you gave him and is now confident enough to return home and show his people what he has learned.

You are going to have to meet him in the same location where you demonstrated your skill as an archer in the Gift of the Bow mission. Be careful as you travel to the ruins because the area is prone to random encounters with powerful creatures. When you meet with Glyndwr at the location marked on your map, he will lead you to the Sacred Arbor.

Keep close because some minor enemies will attack. Don't let Glyndwr take too much damage. When you reach the Sacred Arbor, you will meet his father, Taliesin. Something is amiss and you will see a cutscene explaining the situation. An ogre has kidnapped Doireann, Glyndwr's sister, and while his father told him to stay behind, he will try to find her. He will ask you to help.

If you lose sight of Glyndwr at any point just stick close to the white torches and you will be fine. There are some weak enemies around so keep an eye out. You can avoid them if you don't want to waste your time in Dragon's Dogma 2.

When you reach the Ancestral Chamber, head inside, dealing with any goblins or wolves that might be in the way. It is best to clear the path as much as you can because you will be carrying Doireann on the way out. Follow the path until you come up against the Ogre.

You do not need to defeat the monster. Your job is to get Doireann out of harm's way. Pick her up and carry her away from the ogre. If you think you are ready, you can return to take on the powerful creature but it is not needed to complete the quest. If you defeat the ogre, Glyndwr will shoot some rubble creating a shortcut out of the cave.

If you don't want to deal with the ogre, you can simply carry Doireann out the long way around. When you get outside, Glyndwr will thank you for saving his sister. Taliesin will compliment his son on his skill with the bow and reward you for your help. You will receive the Repeller Bow, 16,000 gold, and a Portcrystal for your efforts.

Make sure you talk with Taliesin straight after and he will give you the Hunter's Secret tome which will give you the archer's ultimate skill, Heavenly Shot. Now you have gained the Maister's Teachings for the archer vocation, you can leave Sacred Arbor for a while.

Be sure to come back when you have access to Bakbattahl and continue the storyline of Glyndwr and his family. Next, they will try to save the sacred Arborheart and will need your help.
