Become the Arisen in Dragon's Dogma 2 and start the quest to reclaim your heart from the dragon that stole it. Along your journey, you will fight countless monsters, and deal with a ridiculous amount of NPCs. As you travel through the world Capcom has created for us, don't forget to pay attention to available vocations.
Dragon's Dogma 2: Starting Vocations
When you start Dragon's Dogma 2, you will be able to choose from four vocations. You can switch between all four by spending DSP. You will earn DSP, discipline, by defeating enemies throughout the game, so don't worry so much because it will accumulate organically. The first four starting vocations are:
- Fighter - A traditional knight class, equipped with a sword and shield
- Thief - Quick and deadly, armed with twin daggers
- Mage - Deal damage from afar and support your party with magic
- Archer - Equipped with a bow, a typical ranged class
These are the base-level vocations. There are six more classes. You will have to find and unlock these in Dragon's Dogma 2.
- Warrior - An aggressive class, usually armed with a greatsword
- Sorcerer - An offensive mage, focusing on powerful spells to defeat enemies
- Trickster - Uses illusions to deceive opponents, useful as a support class
- Magick Archer - Heal your party or damage the enemy at range with magic arrows
- Mystic Spearhand - Armed with double-sided spears and magic, able to fight at any range
- Wayfarer - Jack of all trades, master of none.
Let's look at the advanced vocations and what you need to do to unlock them for your character and Pawns.

How to Unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2
You can unlock both the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations in the same quest. When the main missions take you to Vernworth, stop by the Vocation Guild beneath the inn and talk to the guildhead. During your conversation, he will mention other vocations. When you press the subject, he will tell you that you lack the weapons needed to learn the advanced classes.
This will begin the quest Vocation Frustration in Dragon's Dogma 2. The guildhead can't give you the needed weapons because someone stole their latest shipment from the local armorer. Head to the armorer, Roderick, to find out more. It's only a short walk from the Vocation Guild.

Roderick will tell you where the stolen weapons are and send you off to retrieve them. Head west to Trevo Mine. Along the way, you will have to face a few enemies so if needed, there is a campfire near the entrance to the mine.
The path is one long loop so it doesn't matter which path you choose. Keep an eye out for two treasure chests containing the weapons needed as you explore the goblin-infested mine. One weapon is the greatsword called the Two-Hander, and the other is an archistaff named Grievous Horns. Neither are hard to find if you are thorough.
Return to the Vocation Guild and hand both weapons in. This will unlock the Warrior and Sorcerer vocations in Dragon's Dogma 2. Don't forget you will need the necessary DSP.

How to Unlock the Mystic Spearhand Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2
To unlock this vocation you will need to talk to an NPC called Sigurd. You will have three opportunities to find Sigurd so don't worry if you missed one.
The first chance you will have in Dragon's Dogma 2 is when Captain Brant in Vernworth tells you to head back to Melve. A second dragon attacks and Sigurd aids you in the fight. As soon as the battle is done, head over and ask him about his fighting style. This will unlock the Mystic Spearhand vocation.
If you missed him in Melve, you can catch him in Harve. He will be on the east side of the village in the Coastal Hut. You can talk to Sigurd here and it has the same effect.
The third chance you will have comes a lot later in the game. When Battahl is accessible, head to the southwest corner of the map and you should find Dragonsbreath Tower. Sigurd is there and can teach you the Mystic Spearhand vocation before leading you on a difficult dragon hunt.

How to Unlock the Trickster Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2
As soon as you have access to Battahl, simply talk to Luz, an oracle, at the Reverant Shrine. This will unlock the Trickster Vocation. You can find the shrine to the east of Enoa'Battahl Forest. Be careful in this area as it is full of dangerous enemies. Be sure you are prepared before you set off to find this vocation.
The main story will lead you here eventually so if you are in no rush to unlock the Trickster vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2, you can pick it up then. It is completely your choice.

How to Unlock the Magick Archer Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2
The Magick Archer is only unlockable later in the game because you find it on the Volcanic Island in the south of Battahl. When you are ready to brave the difficult region, make your way to Drabnir's Grotto. Once you have passed through, you will meet a dwarf by the name of Gautstafr.
Help the old dwarf out picking wildflowers and continue his questline. He will invite you to his house and eventually ask you to escort him to the healing hot springs to help his back. When you arrive at the hot springs, his wife will appear. It turns out she didn't trust you so she followed you.
To apologize for her distrust, she teaches you the Magick Archer vocation. Not a bad reward for essentially bathing an old dwarf.

How to Unlock the Wayfarer Vocation in Dragon's Dogma 2
The Wayfarer Vocation is also available on the Volcanic Island. When you are there, head to the Geyser Hamlet and find a drunk human called Lamond. He will ask you to give him some Newt Liquor. Do not give him any straight away.
This item is rare and he does not want one bottle but will ask for more if you give him some. You will need to give him three bottles in total. If you haven't found any Newt Liquor yet you can craft it by combining fruit wine and a saurian tail. The only problem is that the fruit wine is also a rare item to find.
When you find the ingredients needed or the Newt Liquor, head to Checkpoint Rest Town and visit Ibrahim's Scrap Store. For a fee, Ibrahim can duplicate any item in your inventory. When you have three bottles, return to Lamond and he will reward you with the Wayfarer vocation.
That's all the vocations that you can unlock in Dragon's Dogma 2. Spend some time getting used to each class before you decide which is the best for you. Every vocation has pros and cons and is worth exploring. I hope this helps and have fun.
